Photos courtesy of BHS Volleyball The No. 3 Burns Hilander volleyball team celebrated Senior Night by taking down league-rival Vale Vikings at home on Thursday, Oct. 9. Haley Smith Honoring the three seniors, Hayley Smith, Taylor Trent and Jocelyn Graham, and with an excited student section cheering on the team, the girls took down the Vikings in four sets 25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 25-14. Jocelyn Graham finished the four sets leading the team in attacking with 17 kills. Amaya Ballard ended the evening with 12 kills, Megan Weil finished with 11 kills, while Shelby Peasley, Natalee Otley-Smith, and Taylor Trent each had one kill. Ballard and Graham led in serving, with two aces apiece. Bailey Temple, Hayley Smith and Weil each picked up one ace. Otley-Smith led the girls in blocking, with seven total blocks. Weil finished with six, while Trent had five, Graham had two, Ballard and Peasley each finished with one block. Temple led the team in digging with 24 digs, while Graham finished with 14. Ballard and Smith each came out with 12 digs, Trent had nine, Otley-Smith and Weil each finished with two. Jocelyn Graham Trent had 36 of the teams 43 assists, with Temple picking up the other seven. Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, Oct. 7, Burns traveled to Lakeview for a non-league match against the Honkers. Burns won in straight sets 25-19, 25-15, 25-23. Graham led in attacking with 11 kills, while Weil and Ballard each finished the game with 10 kills. Trent had four kills, Otley-Smith and Peasley each had one kill. Graham finished the evening leading the team in serving with four aces, while Ballard finished with two aces. Weil led in blocking with five blocks, Otley-Smith finished with four, Graham picked up three, while Trent, Ballard, and Peasley had two blocks. Temple led the team with 26 digs, Graham had 11 digs, Ballard finished with six, Smith had five, Peasley and Trent each had four and Weil had one dig. Taylor Trent Trent finished the evening with 29 of the teams 30 assists. The Hilanders take to the road this week to play three games in two days and can lock up the Eastern Oregon League title with three wins. They’ll play at Riverside on Friday, Oct. 17. The first game is set to begin at 2 p.m. They’ll finish off the day at Umatilla, with game time set for 5:30 p.m. The girls will finish off the weekend with a game at Mac-Hi on Saturday, Oct. 18, with the game set to begin at 1 p.m. The Snake Pit
