All four Harney County wrestling teams, Burns High School men and women’s team and Crane Union High School men and women’s team, traveled to Klamath Falls over the weekend on Saturday, Jan. 10, for the 2026 High Desert Classic.

For the Hilander women’s team, all three wrestlers placed as they racked up two first place spots and one second place. Burns’ three wrestlers scored 68 points to finish fifth out of nine schools.

April Lopez for the Mustangs was the lone wrestler for the women’s team. She took home the gold in her respective weight class, going 3-0 at the tournament.

The Hilander men had 15 wrestlers place out of 18 total wrestlers. Burns took home six first place gold medals, four second place medals, and five third place medals. 

Burns scored 337 points to claim the top spot at the tournament. Madras finished second with 184 points, Illinois Valley 170.5, Mazama 114, Ashland 99.5, Henley 88.5, Modoc 86, Crane 65.5, and Klamath Union 29 points.

The Mustang mens wrestling team finished ninth out of 10 schools, and were the only 1A school at the tournament. Three out of the six wrestlers placed which included a second place, third place and a fourth place finish.
