Hilanders log wins against Nyssa and Vale

The BHS men’s basketball team logged two wins in Eastern Oregon League action this past week putting them on a five-game win streak.

The Hilanders had four scorers in double-digits against Nyssa on Tuesday, Jan. 27. Jack Wright led with a team-high 16 points and 13 rebound double-double. He also logged five assists and three steals in the game. Wright finished the game shooting 6 of 8 from the free throw line, while the team finished shooting 10 of 12.

Wyatt Sewell produced 11 points on the night and nabbed six rebounds and three aissts. Coltin Miller scored 11 points to go along with three steals, two rebounds, and two assists. Parker Singhose finished with 11 points, two rebounds and two steals. Dylan Johnson finished with seven points to go along with nine rebounds, two steals, one assist and one blocked shot.

Two days later, Burns hosted Vale and defeated the Vikings behind Johnson’s team-high 21 points. The Hilanders came out on top 50-42.

Johnson finished with one rebound short of a double-double, grabbing nine total rebounds to go along with four blocked shots, two assists and one steal.

Wright produced 12 points on the night and finished with eight rebounds, four assists and one steal. Singhose scored six points, had two rebounds, one steal and one assist. Grayden Martinak finished with five points and one rebound. Miller scored four points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals. Sewell ended the game with two points and three rebounds.

The men hosted Ontario (0-3, 4-14) on Tuesday, Feb. 3. Score and stats were unavailable at press time.

They will travel to Umatilla on Friday, Feb. 6 and then at Mac-Hi on Saturday, Feb. 7 in two league games.
