Linda Sue Read, age 80, of Washougal, Wash., passed away in hospice care on July 24, 2025 in Vancouver, Wash.

Linda, the daughter of Wern and M. Lauretta Read of Lyle, Wash., was born on Jan. 1, 1945. She joined older brothers, Dick and Jim Read. She graduated from Lyle High School in 1963 and in 1966 from Clark College with an Associates Degree in Nursing. She furthered her education at the University of Washington, Portland State and the University of Oregon.

Linda truly loved being a nurse, and during her 40-year nursing career worked in many places including Goldendale and Vancouver Wash., as well as Madras and Burns.

Linda is survived by her brother, Jim and family in Washougal; daughter-in-law, Molly Read, and grandson, Eli Read in Casper, Wyo.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Wern and Lauretta Read; her brother, Dick Read; sister-in-law, Lavina Read; and her son, Anthony.

Besides collecting friends, many from around the world via Facebook, Linda was very proud of her son, Lieutenant Anthony Read, a 26-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, and her grandson, Eli.

She will be missed by so many.

Cremation has taken place and burial of ashes will occur at West Klickitat Cemetery District #1 in White Salmon, Wash., at a later date. A memorial service was held to honor both Linda and her son Anthony on Aug. 2, 2025 in Washougal.
