Harvey graduated from Crane Union High School in 1952 and soon after Graces death was drafted into the Army working for President Eisenhower. He spent two years stationed in Iceland, where he became the company barber. He took many pictures that gave us countless hours of entertainment. He returned to the ranch after being honorably discharged, he took on the task of taking care of it and his parents.

When he married Patsy, he adopted Dan and Chuck. Mike and Toby soon completed his family. Life on a ranch with four boys was never dull! He worked tirelessly to hold the ranch together and added a second career working on the county road maintenance crew. He was known by the entire crew as Uncle Harvey! He was an avid hunter and loved a day in the woods fishing.

Harvey was born on the ranch and we were told countless times he wanted to die on it as well. With son Toby’s unwavering dedication and hard work that wish was possible. Harvey’s mind was clear and strong up to the last. On that last night, he woke with a start focusing his blue eyes on me and asked, “Where am I?” I replied, “You are at home Dad!” He relaxed and returned to sleep. I looked across the green valley as the blue sky darkened and the last rays of sun hit Tom Delaney mountain. I knew in my heart that he would soon be home in Heaven. Mom was waiting supper!

Harvey passed away Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2025.
