Alvin Eugene Clayborn April 21, 1938 – April 21, 2026 Obituary April 29, 2026April 29, 20260 Alvin Eugene Clayborn, a longtime resident of Burns, passed away on his 88th birthday, April 21, 2026. Born in Glover, Okla., to Claude Clayborn and Le Ola Gibson, Alvin was the last of his siblings—Billy, Gilbert, Willie Joe, and Helen—to pass, marking the end of an era for his family. After his family relocated to Oregon, Alvin met the love of his life, Geraldine “Bonnie” Bringman. They were married on Oct. 20, 1956, and built a life centered on family and hard work. Alvin spent his career with the Edward Hines Lumber Company, retiring in 1993. A man of few words but great character, Alvin was known for his work ethic and his legendary ability to find a bargain. Whether he was wheeling and dealing cars or hunting for antiques, he loved the “swap.” His happiest times, however, were spent outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping, or simply being surrounded by those he loved. Alvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bonnie, in April 2000; and his son, Douglas Jay Clayborn, in May 2025. He is survived by his son, William “Billy” Eugene Clayborn; his grandchildren, Tabitha, Jesse, Cotie, Nickolas, Tanner, Hailey, and Tristan Clayborn; and many more great-grandchildren and loved ones. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 2 p.m., at the Burns Cemetery. A Celebration of Life and potluck dinner will follow at the Memorial Building at the Harney County Fairgrounds. Friends and family are invited to bring a dish to share if they are able. In lieu of flowers, a donation box will be set up at the service if you would like to contribute to final expenses.
