Burns is sitting at the No. 8th spot in the OSAA rankings, which could give them a home game in the second round of the playoffs if some cards fold in their favor. In their game against Baker on Tuesday, May 12, Natalie Otley-Smith gave up a two-hitter on her way to striking out 12 batters in the team’s 6-0 over the Bulldogs. Bailey Temple led the team at the plate, going 2 for 4 with one RBi and a triple. Baileigh Nisbet hit a triple as she went 1 for 3 with two RBIs at the plate. Shelby Peasley was 1 for 3 with two RBIs and Cara Goss-Bodily finished going 1 for 3 in her appearance. The team hosted Enterprise/Joseph/Wallowa team for senior night in a double-header, coming out on top in both games 7-2 and 14-0. Otley-Smith earned two wins on the day, throwing a combined 10 innings, giving up only three hits and striking out 17 batters. Offensively, Temple finished both games going 5 for 6 at the plate with three RBIs which includes two triples and one double. Jocelyn Graham went 4 for 6 on the day with two RBIs and a double. Goss-Bodily went 4 for 7 with four RBIs and a double, while Nisbet finished 3 for 6 with five RBIs which included two triples. The team, who’ve locked up second place in league and will receive a first round bye in the playoffs, will play their last regular season game at Baker this Wednesday, May 20.
