Shirley Dowell Miller, 77, passed away Aug. 18, peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. 

Shirley was raised on a ranch near Princeton, where she developed a lifelong love of the land, animals, and horses. She became an accomplished rancher and horsewoman and remained deeply connected to that way of life. She also had a passion for gardening and flowers and found great joy in caring for all animals, especially her beloved cats and horses. 

Above all, Shirley was devoted to her family. She was the proud mother of two Marine Corps officers and grandmother of a current Marine. She took great pride in their service and accomplishments and treasured her family above all else. 

Shirley will be remembered for her love of family, animals, horses, gardening, and the simple beauty of the life she lived. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
