Lego Night: second Thursday of the month, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Harney County Library will supply the LEGOs. Families welcome. Children under 10 years old must be accompanied by adult.

CAN Cancer Support Group. 2nd Thursday of each month, 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Harney District Hospital Board Room (enter through Grand Street Café). The City of Burns Public Safety Committee meets the second Thursday of each month at 2:30 p.m. at the Burns Fire Hall.

The Harney County Senior Center offers classes for Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30-10:15 in the morning. The class consists of DVD and personal instruction. Harney County Museum is open Friday’s from 10am – 4pm

Frontier Art Center has Open Studio every Friday from 1:00-5:00 for Pottery and Painting. All ages welcome; youth under 12 must be accompanied by adult. $10 per day. Fee does not include clay or painting canvas, but other supplies provided. Basic instruction or work on your own. The Kiwanis Club of Burns-Hines is hosting an all you can eat Scholarship Breakfast Fundraiser, on Saturday, May 11 from 7-11 am at the Harney County Community Center.

CAN Cancer Trail of Hope 5K Fun Run & Walk. Saturday, May 11. Hines Park. Check-in/registration starts at 8:30 a.m., race starts at 9:30 a.m. Registration is $25 for ages 13 and up, free for ages 12 and under. Register at Harney District Hospital Admitting Desk, Harney County Chamber of Commerce or online at onecau.se/trailofhope2024. All proceeds benefit local cancer patients.

Sunday, May 12

District 9, Oregon Old-Time Fiddlers hosts a potluck and jam session the second Sunday of each month at the Harney Hub in Burns. Potluck starts at 1pm; jam and dancing follows from 2-4pm. All are welcome – bring a dish and join the potluck and/or come to listen and dance for some fun.

A free community dinner (FREE), will be served on the second Sunday of each month at the Parish Hall of the Holy Family Catholic Church,622 N. Egan Ave in Burns. The dinner will be both Dine-in and To Go starting at 5pm for Dine-in and 5:30pm for Take-out. Dinner will be available until 6:30pm or until it runs out. Dinner is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, Fr. McDevitt Council and the Holy Family Parish. For more information, please call 541-589-3244.

Harney County Historical Society meets the second Monday of each month at the Museum Annex, at 1 p.m. The meetings are free and open to the public.

Harney County Democrats meet the second Monday of each month at 6:00 PM. Due to COVID 19, we are meeting via ZOOM until further notice. Please visit our webpage, harneycountydems.org to find our meeting link.

The HHOPE board of directors meets the second Monday of every other month at 5:15 p.m. at the Foursquare Church.

The Hines Volunteer Fire Department meets at the Hines Fire Hall each Monday at 6:30 p.m. (except the fifth Monday of the month). Prospective members may contact Hines City Hall at 541-573-2251.

Harney District Hospital holds a free Physical Therapy Sports Injury Clinic for any athletes, 6th grade through 12th grade, that have sustained a sports-related injury. Athletes will be seen by a physical therapist to assess their injury and offer recommendations for treatment, or refer them to their physician if needed. Call 541-573-1543 to arrange a time to come in. A parent or guardian must accompany the athlete when they come in to the sports injury clinic.

Teen Chess Club: Second Tuesday of the month, 5:00-6:00 p.m. Drop-in to Harney County Library for a fun, learning experience! We will provide the games. Open to 12 years old and up.

Kiwanis Club of Burns-Hines meets for a no-host luncheon the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Pine Room, 543 W. Monroe in Burns. 

Harney County Local Community Action Council meets the second Tuesday of each month from 1-3 p.m. in the hospital board room. Disabilities Services Advisory Council for Harney County meets the second Tuesday of each month at the state office building, 809 W. Jackson, at 1:30 p.m.

The Harney County School District No. 3 board of directors meets at the District Office, 190 Hines Blvd., Burns, the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.

Addiction Recovery Program meets every Tuesday at 7 p.m. in room 17 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 600 N. Saginaw Avenue in Hines. This free group meeting is a faith-based, 12-step program open to all in the community age 18 and older who are working on stopping any destructive habits. The northeast door to the building will be unlocked for your convenience.
