Clyas Mahdeen Hammons passed away on Aug. 2, 2021 at Ashley Manor in Burns, she was 96 years old.  She was born June 1, 1925 in Shamrock, Texas to James “Jim” Van McDowell and Elizabeth “Lizzie” (Kuykendall) McDowell and grew up in Shamrock.  She married Richard Louis Hammons on Feb. 23, 1944

Pauline Gibson Johnston passed away on Sept. 21, 2020. Pauline was born to Stanley and “Kate” Gibson, the first of six children on Jan. 3, 1938. She was raised on the family ranch at Silver Creek near Riley. She attended Suntex School through grade school and then attended and graduated from Burns

Deana Louise (Asmussen) Gilchrist, 53, went from physical death into eternal life with her Savior Jesus Christ on July 17, 2021 at her home in Boise, Idaho due to complications of her Multiple Sclerosis. Deana was born May 10, 1968 in Burns where she attended both elementary and junior high school.

James Lemos, 78, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021, at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.   Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021, at Holy Family Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow in the Burns Cemetery.   LaFollette’s Chapel is in charge

Alice Emily Cross, 89, passed away on July 10, 2021 in Pendleton. Alice was born in Cleveland, Ohio and was number five of 11 children born to Charles and Dorothy Wills. In 1957, Alice married Lester Cross and they moved to Oregon, where Lester worked as a gyppo logger. Together they raised five

Leland Frank Morris was born at Valley View Hospital in Burns on Sept. 2, 1929 to Aaron (Sandy) Morris and Gladys Jones Morris.  His arrival was early and he weighed in at 4 pounds 8 ounces. The new parents were determined to make sure their tiny son survived.  They brought him home
