Burns improves to 6-0

The Burns girls basketball team kept their unbeaten record intact by winning both games at the Running Raider Tournament held Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7-8, at Lost River High School.

Burns beat Lost River in the opening game 46-28.

On the following day, the Hilanders ran past Lakeview 61-27.

Burns, now 6-0, will play at Grant Union Friday, Dec. 14, then return home to host Baker Saturday, Dec. 15.

Aundraya Ceja scored 30 points, including eight 3-pointers, to lead the Burns girls basketball team to a 73-43 non-conference win over Lakeview on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Burns High School.

Allie Hueckman finished with 15 points for Burns, and Mileah SkunkCap added 11 as the Hilanders improved to 4-0 on the season.

The Hilanders took control of the game from the tipoff, scoring 12 points before the Honkers could get on the scoreboard, and led 24-8 at the end of the first quarter.

Burns then outscored Lakeview 11-9 in the second period, and took a 35-17 lead into halftime.

Ceja found the range in the third quarter, hitting four 3-pointers, and Hueckman added a trey at the buzzer as Burns built a 58-29 advantage.

The Hilanders closed out the game by outscoring Lakeview 15-14 over the final eight minutes.

Shai Skinner chipped in with seven points for Burns, and Jenna Garner, Kaiden Raif, Page McLain, and McKenzi Hoyt had two points apiece.
