Hilanders turn back Hawks 67-42

Zane Taylor scored 26 points and Dakota Ceja added 15 to lead the Burns boys basketball team to a 67-42 nonconference win over La Pine on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Burns High School.

Ceja sunk a 3-pointer in the opening seconds of the game to give Burns a lead they never relinquished. The Hilanders led 19-12 at the end of the first quarter, and 30-20 at halftime.

The Hawks opened the third quarter on a 7-0 run to cut the Hilanders’ lead to three, but Taylor knocked down 13 points in the period, and Burns led 45-35 headed into the fourth quarter.

The Hilanders put the game away by outscoring La Pine 22-7 over the final eight minutes of play.

Cade Tiller finished with eight points for Burns, Emmett Klus and Truston Snapp each had five, Dakota Robey and JP Friedrichsen three apiece, and Mason Wulff two.

The Burns boys basketball team improved to 9-2 on the season with a 55-52  nonconference road win over Sisters on Friday, Dec. 21.
