Sophomore quarterback Jaden Tiller rushed for 182 yards and two scores and completed 12 of 21 passes for 79 yards and one touchdown to lead Burns to a 24-6 non-conference win over Sisters on Friday, Sept. 6, at Corbett Memorial Field.

The Hilanders had a chance to score in the opening minutes of the game as the Outlaws fumbled on their second play from scrimmage and Burns recovered at the 24. Burns worked the ball down to the 5-yard line, but Sisters came up with an interception to stop the drive.

Following a punt by the Outlaws on their next possession, Burns started at their own 47. Tiller engineered an eight-play drive, scoring on an 18-yard TD pass to Justin Winn. The two-point try was no good, and Burns was up 6-0 with 3:06 left in the first quarter.

Neither team mustered much of an offense for the rest of the first half and the teams went into the break with the Hilanders leading 6-0.

Burns received the opening kickoff to start the second half, and took a 12-0 lead on a two-yard run by Mick Winn.

The Outlaws scored their only touchdown of the night on their next possession, an 11-yard run by Hayden Sharp, to cut the lead to 12-6.

Undaunted, Burns answered back, taking an 18-6 lead on a 38-yard run by Tiller.

Burns then recovered a Sisters’ fumble at the Outlaws’ 35-yard line, and scored on a six-yard run by Tiller for the final margin of victory.

The Hilanders’ Dakota Ceja added 76 yards of offense on eight carries, and Winn finished with four catches for 23 yards.

The Burns defense held Sisters to 135 yards rushing and just 16 yards passing.

The Hilanders travel to Lakeview on Friday, Sept. 13 for another non-conference contest. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
