The Burns Hilanders rushed for 336 yards and six touchdowns on their way to a 47-19 non-conference win over Ontario on Friday, Oct. 25, at Ontario.

The Hilanders’ Jaden Tiller rushed for 160 yards and two scores on 12 carries, and Dakota Ceja added 122 yards and two touchdowns on 10 attempts to lead Burns’ offensive attack.

A 35-yard scoring run by Tiller on Burns’ first possession capped off a 62-yard drive, and gave the Hilanders’ a 6-0 lead.

Ontario answered right back with a 65-yard TD pass from Kenji Teramura to Chaney Larson on their first offensive play, and the point-after kick was good, giving the Tigers a 7-6 lead.

Undaunted, the Hilanders started their next drive at their own 32 and regained the lead on a 27-yard run by Tiller.

The Burns defense then forced Ontario out on downs, giving the ball back to the offense at the Burns 26. Tiller ripped off a 46-yard run to get into Tiger territory, and Ceja finished the drive with a 12-yard run for the score. The extra point was good, and Burns was up 19-7.

Ontario was forced to punt on their next possession, but a bad snap gave the Hilanders the ball at the Tiger 2-yard line. Mick Winn then crashed into the end zone on the next play, and the PAT put Burns ahead 26-7.

After forcing the Tigers out on downs, Burns had a first-and-10 at the Ontario 40. Ceja finished off the three-play drive with a 2-yard run, and the Hilanders led 33-7 at halftime.

Ontario scored on their first possession of the third quarter, making it 33-13 with 5:17 left in the period.

Starting their next drive at their own 35, the Hilanders marched down the field in 10 plays, getting the TD on a 1-yard run by Winn.

On the Tigers’ next possession, the ball was knocked out of a receiver’s hands and caught by the Hilanders’ Wyatt Epling who raced 61 yards for the touchdown and a 47-13 advantage.

The final score of the game came on a 52-yard fumble return for a score by Ontario with less than two minutes to play.

With the win, Burns improved to 8-0 on the season, 3-0 in the Eastern Oregon League (EOL), while Ontario remained winless on the season at 0-8.

The Hilanders host Vale (3-0, 5-3) on Friday, Nov. 1, in a contest to decide the EOL title. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Corbett Memorial Field.
