Burns girls start season with three wins Burns Basketball Burns Sports Sports December 11, 2019December 10, 20190 Burns to compete in Lost River tourney Dec. 13-14 The Hilanders girls basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season by winning the La Pine Invitational held Dec. 6-7. On Friday, Dec. 6, Burns topped Amity 62-29 in the first round of the tournament. The following day, the Hilanders ran past Irrigon 64-22. Burns competes in the Lost River Tournament Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13-14. ••• The Burns girls basketball team tipped off its season with a 47-23 nonconference win over Grant Union on Wednesday, Dec. 4. The Burns defense was dominant in the first half as the Hilanders grabbed a 34-9 lead. After the break, Burns outscored the Prospectors 10-4 in the third quarter and then coasted to the 24-point victory. The Hilanders’ Allie Hueckman led all scorers with 13 points.
