Lady Mustangs pick up three victories

The Crane girls basketball team remained unbeaten with a 54-30 win over Joseph at Pendleton High School on Thursday, Jan. 2.

The Lady Mustangs raised their record to 8-0 with the victory, while the Eagles fell to 7-4.

Kelsie Siegner finished with 27 points for the Lady Mustangs, Riley Davis had 13, and Shelie Doman 12.

Crane got out to a 12-7 lead after the first eight minutes, and upped their lead to 21-15 by halftime.

The Lady Mustangs took control in the second half, outscoring Joseph 14-8 in the third period, and 19-6 in the final stanza.

On Friday, Jan. 3, Crane met Country Christian at Pendleton High School, and raised their season record to 9-0 with a 65-33 win.

Crane dominated early, taking a 25-8 first quarter lead, and up 43-17 at halftime.

The Lady Cougars cut into the lead after the break, outscoring Crane 12-9 in the third period, but Crane finished with a 13-4 run to close out the game.

Siegner dropped in 25 points for Crane, Davis and Doman each had 11, and Dani Clark added 10.

Siegner scored 19 points and Doman added 18 to lead Crane to a 72-33 win over Prairie City in girls non-conference basketball play on Monday, Dec. 30.

With the defense forcing several turnovers by the Lady Panthers in the early going, Crane got out to a 24-9 first quarter lead, and then extended the lead to 38-17 by halftime.

Prairie City chipped away at the lead in the third quarter, outscoring Crane 10-7, but the Lady Mustangs closed with a 10-0 run, including 3-pointers by Doman and Jessica Zander, to lead 55-27 going into the fourth quarter.

Crane closed out the game with a 17-6 advantage, raising their season record to 7-0.

Rounding out the scoring for Crane were Clark with seven, Taelor Hammack, Davis, and Risa Thompson with six each, Laurel Witzel with four, and Zander and Leslie Doman three apiece.

With the loss, Prairie City fell to 4-3 on the season.
