Chris T. Palmer 1944-2020

Chris T. Palmer passed away Feb. 22 in Burns.

Chris was born Dec. 13, 1944, in St. Paul, Minn., to Marcellus and Jean (Christie) Palmer.

After Chris’s family moved to Burns, he attended school at Slater Elementary. In 1963, he graduated from Burns Union High School. During his high school years he was active in football and track, and he currently holds the school record in the 100-yard dash.

Chris worked for his dad at M.A. Palmer and Sons. After graduating from Oregon State University with a degree in engineering, Chris spent several years working in Saudi Arabia. He traveled extensively throughout Europe at that time.

After the passing of his father, Chris returned to Burns to run M.A. Palmer and Sons with his brother, Cork (Charles) Palmer. He retired from being the county surveyor in 2014. He enjoyed spending his retired life with his family and making sure his property was in pristine shape.

Chris is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Peggy; children, Kissa, Stephanie, and Jennifer; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; brother, Howard (Howdy) Palmer and wife, RaNae; and sister, Beryl Moss and husband, Stephen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Cork; and nephew, Toby Moss.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, at Burns Eks Lodge with a potluck.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Burns High School Athletic Club or to the Burns Elks Lodge.

The family thanks everyone who impacted Chris’s life, and hopes to catch up with those who can make it to the celebration of life for such a dedicated, hardworking, kind, and stubborn mountain man.
