Primary election ballots to go in mail April 29

Ballots for the primary election will go in the mail April 29. New this year, the legislature funded prepaid postage for returning ballots. With this in mind, please plan to vote early and return your ballot early. Postmarks do not count. If returning your ballot by mail, be sure to mail it no later than May 13 to ensure timely delivery to the county clerk’s office to be counted.

Twenty-four-hour ballot drop sites will be available in Crane, at Hines City Hall, and the rear of the courthouse in Burns. There will also be a drop site located inside the main door of the courthouse, near the county clerk’s office. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the drop sites at the Senior Center and library will not be available for this election.

The county clerk’s office will be open to the public for issuing replacement ballots, voter registration, and other election-related matters beginning April 29. Tuesday, April 28, is the last day to update party affiliation for the primary election. If you need to update your registration, do so at www.oregonvotes.gov. Please call the county clerk’s office at 541-573-6641 for any questions.

Election day is May 19. Results will be posted at 8 p.m. at www.results.oregonvotes.gov.
