Harney County receives state COVID-19 grant funding

Harney County received COVID-19 grant dollars from the state of Oregon to help local businesses that are struggling from the effects of COVID-19. The dollar amount received was $564,855.

The target for these dollars is to prioritize the hospitality industry first, followed by businesses that were impacted by the freeze, and small business in general.

A committee was formed to set up some guidelines and parameters for how this funding will be allocated.

The priority group will be allocated the first $339,000. Next, other Harney County businesses in need will be allocated the remaining $211,000.

A short application process must be followed to meet the minimal requirements. The application can be found on the Harney County website as well as on Harney County Economic Development and Small Business Development Center’s local Facebook pages.

The award amounts will range from $6,000 (0-4 employees), $9,000 (5-9 employees), and $12,000 (10 or more employees). The hard deadline for the application to be returned is Dec. 21, 2020 at 12 p.m. (noon).

Please help spread the word amongst the business community and others. We want to help as many in need as possible who meet the requirements.

Sincerely,
Pete Runnels
Harney County Judge
