Harney District Hospital announces winners of photo contest

Harney District Hospital (HDH) recently hosted the “Harney County Landscapes Photography Contest” to gain photos of local landscapes to decorate NewSun Energy & Harney District Hospital Specialty Care Clinic, which will be opening in the Racine Building (located at 271 N. Egan Ave. in Burns) on March 8.

HDH was totally blown away by the amount of contest participation! Sixty-six photographers entered the contest, and a total of 434 photos were submitted. The photos were painstakingly narrowed down to 155 finalists, which were presented to HDH staff for judging. From that group of finalists, staff chose 24 winning photos, which will be enlarged and displayed throughout NewSun Energy & Harney District Hospital Specialty Care Clinic.

Five of the 24 winning photos were selected for grand prizes. Grand-prize winners will receive a $200 Shop Harney gift card, which can be redeemed at any of the 65 participating local businesses, and their photos will receive the most

prominent placement in the new specialty care clinic. Grand-prize winners included Dana Breshears, Jeromy Adamson, Monica Mathews, Susan Doverspike, and Anna Masterson.

A $50 Shop Harney gift card was awarded for each of the other photos that won the contest. In addition to their

grand-prize-winning photos, Doverspike and Mathews each took an additional photo that earned them a $50 prize. As a result, Doverspike and Mathews will each receive one $250 Shop Harney gift card. Sharon

Breshears, Brad Swann, and Ashley Campbell each had two $50-winning photos, so they will receive $100 Shop Harney Gift Cards. Jacklyn Smith, Dave Vickstrom, Kainan Jordan, Andrea Grigg, Elijah Grigg, Stephanie Falk, SM Schaefer, Shannon Fritts, Jeff Ritches, Sarah Street, and Rick Vetter each had one winning photo, earning them $50 Shop Harney gift cards.

HDH would like to thank everyone who submitted photos for the contest. We received some truly breathtaking shots, capturing Harney County’s phenomenal scenery. The contest served as a pleasant reminder as to why we choose to live and work in this community, and we are excited for this opportunity to showcase Harney County’s beauty and put $1,950 worth of prize money toward supporting local businesses.

Congratulations to all of our winners!
