Judith Ann Letson Gaines was born in St. Paul Minnesota on July 19, 1945. Judy passed away on May 26, 2021 after a courageous fight with COVID-19 with her granddaughter, Rachel Sievers at her side.

Her surviving siblings are Marian Fox, Harvey Letson, Pat Carlson, Jeanette Letson, Suzanne Heyer, and Nan Fox. She is survived by her children, John Gaines and Tresa Basey. 

She later married Clifford Gaines and gained three more daughters through this marriage, K.O. Spangler, Cheri Goude, and Renee Griggs. 

Judy was very involved in her community and church during her retirement years being a blessing and friend to many in the Burns community. 

She was heavily involved in women’s ministry, operation Christmas child, the food pantry, and bake sales for fundraisers. 

Her family will always remember Judy for her deep involvement in all her 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren’s lives. She never forgot a birthday or holiday by letter in the mail, no matter the distance. 

She was greatly loved and will be sorely missed, but she is with her savior now and we can have the hope of seeing her again. 

Judy’s memorial service will be held at the Burns Christian Church (125 S. Buena Vista Ave Burns) Sunday, June 6, 2021 at 1 p.m.
