Burns volleyball extends its win streak to six

On Wednesday, Sept. 29, Burns hosted the Grant Union Prospectors. The Hilanders took down Grant Union in four sets 25-17, 22-25, 25-19, 25-13.

Kaitlyn Wright was the player of the game with 18 kills, 100 percent serve, one block, 11 digs, and one assist.

Mackenzie King finished second on the team with 14 kills. Akylah Kaino had six, and Caitlyn Horrell and Reese Rothwell had two apiece.

Kaino led the team with three blocks. King, Horrell, and Rothwell each had one.

Lacie Tiller led the Hilanders with 17 digs. King finished with 13, and Ashley Wright had nine. Rothwell ended with five, Horrell had three, and Kaino finished with one.

Ashley Wright led the team with 39 of the 42 assists.

Two days later, the Hilanders hosted two games against Riverside and Irrigon.

In the first game, Burns overpowered the Pirates in three straight sets 25-11, 25-8, 25-12.

King led the Hilanders with nine kills, K. Wright finished with six, Kaino had five, and Danye Runnels ended with two. Tiller, A. Wright, and Horrell each had one.

Halle Houck, Macy Temple, Runnels, K. Wright, and Horrell each finished with 100 percent serve.

Temple led the team with four digs. K. Wright and A. Wright each had three. Kaino, King, and Horrell had two apiece.

A. Wright led the team with 20 out of 21 assists.

In the second game, Burns handed the Irrigon Knights a loss in three straight sets, 25-8, 25-14, 25-10.

K. Wright led the Hilanders with 17 kills, followed by King who had seven. Kaino logged five, and A. Wright had four. Runnels, Klaire Theall, and Horrell each had one.

Temple, Runnels, K. Wright, and A. Wright each finished with 100 percent serve.

A. Wright led the team with two blocks, K. Wright, Theall, King, and Horrell each finished the day with one.

Temple led everyone with 12 digs. King had nine. K. Wright finished with five. Tiller and A. Wright logged two each, and Houck and Theall finished with one apiece.

A. Wright led the team with 26 assists.

The next day, Saturday, Oct. 2, was Senior Night for the Hilanders who hosted the Umatilla Vikings.

The Hilanders made quick work of the Vikings in three sets 25-3, 25-7, 25-2.

Kaino finished with 10 kills. King ended with seven. K. Wright had six, A. Wright finished with four, and Haley Lohf had one.

K. Wright led the team with 100 percent serve.

Temple, Kaya Dobson, Kaino, and King each had two digs. K. Wright and A. Wright each had one.

A. Wright finished with 20 out of 24 assists.
