Burns cross country competes at Crosby Invitational

Mattie Woodbury took fourth place at TVCC and was the fastest runner for the BHS girls team.

Burns High School (BHS) cross country took part in the Crosby Invitational on Thursday, Oct. 7 at Treasure Valley Community College (TVCC) in Ontario.

In the girls race, Weiser took the top spot with 26 points, followed by Fruitland with 40, Ontario with 77, and Burns with 79.

Results for the Hilander girls are as follows:

Olivia Winn placed 15th and was the second-fastest runner for the BHS girls team. 

Mattie Woodbury placed fourth overall with a time of 22:46.97. Olivia Winn placed 15th with a time of 25:29.67, followed by Keaira Burns, 25th (29:06.36), Gracie Mello, 27th (30:19.91), and Shailey White, 28th (30:48.09).

In the boys race, the Hilanders finished second with 42 points. Fruitland took first place with a score of 24. Nyssa place third with 99, followed by Weiser 103, Vale 109, and Ontario 149.

Results for the Hilanders boys are as follows:

Masson Shaw was the top runner, finishing first with a time of 17:25.29. Carter Lardy came in eighth with a time of 18:45.29, followed by Carsen Volle, 10th (18:53.50), Spencer Johnson, 12th (19:16.68), Tim Banks, 13th (19:27.92), and Kaden Peasley, 18th (20:29.95).

The next meet for the Hilander cross country team will be Saturday, Oct. 16 at Idlewild.
