Roy “Wayne” Crafts 1943 – 2021

Roy “Wayne” Crafts, 78 of Burns, passed away on Sept. 18, 2021 with his best friend, his son, Roy Crafts JR holding his hand. 

Wayne Crafts was born in Aug. 1943 to parents J.T. and Hazel Crafts in Texarkana, Texas. The family relocated to Oakridge, Ore.

At fifteen years old, Wayne, meet his wife Janet Crafts (13 years old) while they were both working in the Cantrell’s Bean Fields, harvesting beans.  Wayne and Janet had their first date at a local drive-in movie theater where they watched attack of the killer tomatoes. They ended the evening at the Silver Bell restaurant, where Roy Wayne Crafts played a song on the jukebox and they had their first dance.

In 1964, Janet ran away with Wayne to Winnemucca where they were married. It is common knowledge that they were inseparable from their first date. 

In 1979 the Crafts family relocated to Burns, where Wayne Crafts work for Edward Hines Lumber Mill. Over the years, Wayne and Janet dedicated their lives to making memories with their family. 

Wayne enjoyed camping, fishing, riding 4-wheelers and working in his garden. His greatest accomplishment was his family. He enjoyed playing pollyanne and exchanging funny jokes with his grandsons. 

Wayne Crafts is survived by his wife, Janet Crafts, of 58 years; his children: Sheryl (Eric) Drushella, Carol (Brady) Ellis, Barbara Crafts, Roy (Dawn) Crafts; grandchildren: Roxane Worley, Amie Stampke, Nathan Drushella, Matthew Drushella, Anthony Ellis, Brady Ellis Jr, Hanna Strain, Skyler Hickey, Tanner Crafts, Taylor Crafts; great-grandchildren: Amiyah Worley, Ethan Stampke, Carter Stampke, Shae Ellis, Easton Ellis, Taya Ellis, Seth Strain, Brynlee Hickey, and Oakley Firstraised.
