Darrell was born to Donald B. Van Wey and Valda M. Coleman Van Wey on May 23, 1947 in Corvallis, joining sisters, Valerie and Velma.

Our family did a lot of moving around for a few years until 1956, when Darrell was about nine, dad transferred to Burns.

Darrell graduated from Burns High School in 1965. After graduation, Darrell was at loose ends and didn’t know what he wanted to do so he joined the Army.

After basic training, he was sent to Viet Nam. After serving and being discharged from the Army, Darrell was again at loose ends so he visited friends and family and finally ended up in Yakima, Wash. where he found a job working for a nice family.

He worked for this family until his retirement and they considered him part of their family.

Darrell was preceded in death by his mother and father; sisters, Velma Schoonover and Vivian Gasper; brother, Dennis Van Wey; and brother-in-law, Gary Bennison.

Darrell is survived by his sister, Valerie Bennison; nephew, Ted Bennison (Beth); niece, Tonya Fox (Ron); two nieces and a nephew in Calif.; great-niece, Catherine Bennison; and great-nephew, jonathan Bennison. He is also survived by his close friends, Mike and Jeni Morton and family.
