Five Hilanders took first place, and the Hilander wrestling team took second place, at the Rollin Schimmel Memorial Wrestling Tournament on Wednesday, Dec. 22, at the Pendleton Convention Center in Pendleton.

The Hilanders’ Ryan Glascock won by fall over Riverside’s William Madrigal to take first in the 106 pound weight class.

Kale Cornell took home the gold in the finals by winning by fall over Heppner/Ione’s Roen Waite in the 120 pound weight class.

Oliver Barnes took first by pinning Burns’ Hazen Johnson in the 126 pound weight class.

In the 138 pound weight class, Carter Lardy won by fall over Sisters’ Hayden Kunz for the gold.

Easton Kemper took first by pinning Elgin’s Joseph Lathrop in the 170 pound weight class.

Hazen Johnson (126) added points by taking second place. Kevin Peasley (152) took fifth place, Orion Houck (145) placed sixth, and Bruin Thomas (160) finished ninth.

Baker/Powder Valley took the team title with 252 points. The Hilanders finished second with 184, followed by Madras with 151.5, Pendleton 150.5, Sisters 123, Riverside 106, Nyssa 97, Elgin 84, Ontario 72.5, Enterprise 69, Gresham 59, Irrigon 54, Imbler 45, Heppner/Ione 34, Corbett 22, and Union with 21.
