Hilander softball adds another four wins

On Tuesday, March 29, the Hilanders defeated the host team, Ontario Tigers, 3-2.

Merissa Medley led the Hilanders in hitting, going 2-for-2 with a two-run homerun, a double, and two RBIs. 

Ayla Davies, Gracie Mello, Ashley Wright, and Lydia Dupuy each had one hit. Davies and Dupuy each hit a double.

Davies, Mello, and Medley each scored runs.

Davies received the win from the mound, going all seven innings, striking out 12, walking three, and giving up two hits.

On Friday, April 1, the Hilanders played a doubleheader in Baker and came out on top in both games 14-6, 5-0.

In the first game, Medley and Wright scored back-to-back homeruns in the first and fourth innings.

Medley, Wright, Lacie Tiller, and Davies each finished the game with two hits.

Macy Temple and Tiller crossed the plate three times. Medley, Wright, and Hallie Houck scored twice. Analeesa and Wright scored once.

Davies started in the circle and pitched three innings, striking out eight while only walking one and giving up two hits.

Leauna Dupuy relieved Davies after the third inning to pitch the next four to get the win. Dupuy struck out three batters, walked one, and gave up seven hits.

In the second game against Baker, Davies went all seven innings to get the win, striking out 17 batters, walking one, and giving up seven hits.

Temple, Davies, Tiller, Medley, Wright, Mackenzie King, and Woodbury each had a hit. Davies hit a triple, and Wright hit a ground rule double in the seventh with the bases loaded giving the Hilanders a cushion.

Medley scored twice, while Temple, Davies, and Tiller each added a run.

Wright finished with two RBIs, and Tiller and King each had one.

The next day, the Hilanders hosted Madras, in their first home game of the season. Burns came out on top 4-0.

Medley led the girls with two hits. Kyra Robey, Temple, Davies, and Tiller each added one hit.

Temple, Davies, King, and Kaya Dobson each crossed the plate once for the Hilanders.

Medley and Davies finished with two RBIs.

Davies pitched all seven innings and received the win, striking out 17 batters and giving up two hits.

Coach Robert Medley said, “The team had a great week, playing some very good teams and coming out with four wins. It’s great seeing all the girls contribute to the team’s success. It’s awesome to see a group of players come together and work as hard as this group does. Huge credit needs to go to our assistant coaches, Ty Temple and Lindsay Davies. They take on huge roles everyday and play integral parts of our game management. The time they put into our program is incredibly important to Burns Softball.”
