William “Bill” Dean Land 1937 – 2022

William “Bill” Dean Land was born April 22, 1937, in Rodeo, N.M., to Francis “Frank” and Beulah Land. He passed away on May 20, 2022.

William’s family headed north from New Mexico working in the fields and they ended up in Oregon in 1940. Bill graduated from Brookings Harbor High School in 1956. 

He married Joanna Martin on Aug. 29, 1958. William helped his four older kids with 4H while they lived in Veneta, Ore. He also served on the volunteer fire department in Veneta from 1973 to 1977. In 1977 William and Joanne moved their family to Crane. 

Bill worked in the construction industry, and after he went to work for Casey Construction in 1999, he ended up traveling all over the United States while working. He also got to work with three of his sons while working for Casey. William was also excited about seeing his son ride racehorses all over the state of Oregon. Bill loved going fishing with his kids, grandkids, great grandkids, and his friends that lived close to him. He also loved gardening. 

William was survived by his sister, Fran; his brother, Al; his wife, Joanna; son, Wesley (Kelly) of Burns; daughter, Verna Hannaford (Gary) of Hines; son, Warren (Cheryl) of Burns; daughter, Vicki Bruhmuller of Burns; son, Wayne of Burns; son, Walter of Burns; son, Wade (Amy) of Buffalo, Wyo.; son, William (Heather) of Burns; and his good friends, David and Arlene Cross of Burns.  

He was also survived by 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, and many friends. A memorial will be planned at a later date by his wife, Joanna.
