Eugene “Gene” Davis 1939 – 2022

Eugene “Gene” Davis, 82, passed away on July 13, 2022 at his home in Burns.

Gene was born on Aug. 6, 1939 in Preston Idaho to Rod and Anna Mae Davis. Most of Gene’s childhood was spent growing up in Izee where he attended grade school in Seneca until moving to Fruitland, Idaho. He graduated from Fruitland High School in 1958.

Gene married Georgia Crabb, his wife of 56 years, in New Plymouth, Idaho on April 2, 1966. In 1967 they moved to Mt. Vernon where they raised their two daughters. Gene worked for the US Forest Service for 33 years, retiring in 2004. In 2014 they moved to Burns.

Gene enjoyed collecting model cars and trucks and spending time with his family. He was the proud father of two daughters and loved to brag about his four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  

He is survived by his wife, Georgia Davis;  daughters, Jeanna (Ted) Cavanaugh and Gail Spearman; grandchildren, Holly (Joe) Edwards, Justin (Railey) Cavanaugh,  Nathynn Spearman and Luke Spearman; great-grandchildren, Tyler Edwards, Teddy Edwards, Caydence Cavanaugh, and Remingtin Cavanaugh; brothers, Lee (Aladeen) Davis, Sam (Maggie) Davis; sister-in-law, Diana (Dan) Soper; brother-in-law, Patrick Crabb; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodney and Anna Mae Davis; brother, Walter Davis; and a son-in-law, Jerry Spearman.
