Renee Mize 1959-2022

Leanna “Renee” Mize, 63, of Burns, passed away on Nov. 30, 2022. Renee was born May 3, 1959 to David and Joann Moore. Renee was the oldest of three children, Brian Moore and Craig Moore (Bend).

Renee attended Lost River Jr/Senior High School and received an associate degree from Oregon Institute of Technology.

Renee moved to Burns around 1983 from the Klamath Basin. Renee held numerous jobs in the community including working at HHOPE where she spent over 20 years fulfilling her life’s purpose of helping others. She also worked at Figaro’s and owned the local bakery.

Renee’s friends and family would describe her as a rare soul who would give her own shirt off her back any chance she could. Renee enjoyed gardening especially her sunflowers, baking any chance she got, playing card and dice games with family/friends, bird watching, traveling as much as she could and her monthly Bunco nights with her friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Renee was preceded in death by her parents, David and Joann Moore; aunt, Naomi Webb; brother, Brian Moore; and her best friends, Debbie Glerup and Wesley Welcome.

Renee is survived by her son, Zachary (April) Mize of Ontario; son, Jeremy Mize of Burns; grandchildren, Will, Ethan, Lucas, Sabrial, Natty and Desi and all her friends and family who loved her.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at the Church of the Nazarene. Time to be determined. Renee’s family invites all that knew her to come celebrate her wonderful life.

  1. My heart and prayers go out to her family. In the past few weeks I’ve started to text her numerous times before remembering that she won’t be able to answer with her signature “chuckle.” I miss you, Renee. I bet Heaven is amazing.
