Easton Kemper took first in the 170-pound weight class, and Joe Weil placed third.

The Burns Hilander wrestling team overtook La Pine at the OSAA 3A Special District No. 4 tournament Saturday, Feb. 11, at Riverside High School in Boardman.

Six Hilanders took home the gold and helped propel the team to first place, scoring 310 points and winning the OSAA 3A Special District No. 4 district title. La Pine took second with 289 points. Nyssa finished third, scoring 201, followed by Riverside with 150, Vale with 96, Sisters with 89, Umatilla with 59, and McLoughlin with 30.

Thomas Winn (113), Canon Winn (120), Kale Cornell (126), Carter Lardy (145), Hunter Kemper (152), and Easton Kemper (170) each took home individual gold medals in their respective weight class. Kempton Richardson (106), Ryan Glascock (113), Preston Hill (120), and Hazen Johnson (132) finished in second place. Andrew Barnes (145) and Joe Weil (170) finished in third place.

Burns will send all 12 wrestlers to the OSAA/OnPoint 3A State Championships, which will be held at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 23-25.
