Hilanders’ Davies throws no-hitter against Madras

The Burns Hilander softball ace, Ayla Davies, threw a complete game against the Madras White Buffaloes without giving up a single hit in a 6-0 win at Madras on Wednesday, April 5.

On her way to her fifth win of the season, Davies struck out 20 batters out of the 22 she faced, walking two.

Davies also led the Hilanders on offense, going three for four with two RBIs and scoring a run.

Merissa Medley finished the day going two for three, with two RBI’s. Mackenzie King and Grace Johnson had two hits and both drove in one RBI. Ashley Wright, Mattie Woodbury, Lacie Tiller, and Gracie Mello finished with one hit each.

On Friday, April 7, the Hilander softball team travel to Enterprise High School, where they played a double-header against the Enterprise/Joseph/Wallowa team.

Burns took both games from the Outlaws, 5-3, 11-1.

In a 5-3 first game win, Medley, Mello, and King each finished with two hits, with Medley hitting a home run. Tiller, Wright, Temple, and Houck each finished with one hit in the game.

Davies earned her sixth win on the mound, throwing all seven innings, giving up six hits and three earned runs while striking out 16 batters.

In the second game of the double-header, Mello and Medley each led the team with three hits, including a home run for each. Woodbury and Davies finished with two hits apiece, and King’s lone hit went for a home run in the 11-1 win.

Davies earned the win on the mound, throwing all six innings, giving up two hits, one earned run, and striking out 12 batters and walking two.

The Hilanders faced off against Vale at Grant Union High School on Monday, April 10 and came out on top, 6-0. Stats were unavailable at press time.

The Hilanders (8-0) take to the road again on Wednesday, April 12, to take on Grant Union. The Prospectors are currently 6-0 overall in the 2A/1A classification and have only given up two runs. Game time is set for 4 p.m.

Burns finishes off the week with a home game against Riverside, to be played at Grant Union High School on Friday, April 14. The first pitch of the double-header is set for 3 p.m.
