Spark Collaborative celebrates anniversary

Located at 341 N. Broadway in downtown Burns, Spark Collaborative Studio supports local artisans and makes their creations available to the public.

Spark Collaborative Studio will host an open house Saturday, Dec. 9, from 5–7 p.m., to celebrate four years of supporting local artisans and making their creations available to the public. Refreshments will be served, and many of Spark’s artists will be present to visit with the community about their artwork.

During the past four years, Spark has continued to grow and expand its service to the community.

“We have had over 70 artisans represented here and currently have 33 members. The gallery space and website have sold over $100,000 for regional artists. Spark has provided the space and experience for many artists to improve and grow their craft,” co-founder Tory Schmidt said. “Members have the opportunity to sell their work on our sparkmercantile.com website. This format helps them to reach a worldwide audience.”

Spark is accepting membership applications at this time.

Spark is a gallery space and learning opportunity space. Each Monday, a Spark Art Night happens at 5:30 p.m. Art projects are shared, and the group works on their pieces in a supportive and creative environment.

When you shop at Spark, you are buying local, handmade items from self-employed people who you know.

Gallery members created a gift basket full of their artwork. The public may come down to Spark and enter to win the gift basket until 4 p.m. on Dec. 9. The prize-winning ticket will be drawn that evening during the open house.

Spark is located at 341 N. Broadway in downtown Burns. Regular business hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
