Hilanders take down Oakridge, Lakeview in Harney County Crossover

The boys Hilander basketball team finished the weekend with wins over Oakridge and Lakeview during the Harney County Crossover, which was held Friday and Saturday, Dec. 15-16.

On Friday, Dec. 15, at Crane Union High School, Burns beat the Oakridge Warriors 62-33. Zane Perry-Kozeni racked-up a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Coltin Miller added nine points, and Will Allen finished with eight.

On Saturday, Dec. 16, the Hilanders held off the Lakeview Honkers 63-48.

Burns got off to a fast start at home, going up 17-11 in the first quarter with Jack Wright hitting two three-point shots. Perry-Kozeni added six points as well.

In the second quarter, Burns was able to hold Lakeview to two points for a 29-13 halftime lead.

Behind Perry-Kozeni’s big fourth quarter, scoring 13 points, Lakeview was unable gain any traction for a 63-48 final score.

Perry-Kozeni picked up a double-double and led all scorers with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Wright finished with 13 points, four rebounds, and one assist. Jaxon Hoyt had 10 points, six rebounds, and two assists, while Sean McMullen and Devon Thrall each added four points to the scoreboard.

The Hilanders end up at 8-0 heading into Christmas break and are next scheduled to play in the Eastern Oregon Holiday Crossover Wednesday through Friday, Dec. 27-29 to finish off the 2023 year. The first game is set against Imbler on Wednesday at Baker High School at 5:45 p.m. On Thursday, the boys will play Wallowa at Powder Valley High School at 5:45 p.m., and will head back to Baker on Friday for a 4 p.m. tipoff against Cove.
