High Desert Park & Rec brings in the New Year in style

High Desert Park and Recreation rang in the new year on Friday, Dec. 29, with a Rockin’ Roller Skate Event. Park and Rec have been holding roller skating nights every third Thursday of the month, this only changes if there’s a holiday skate or other events.

Skate Nights are held August–May, with a summer break in between at the Memorial Building at the fairgrounds. There are a couple different age groups to consider when bringing your kiddos out to skate: ages 9-under skate 4-6 p.m., and ages 10-up skate from 6-8 p.m. There’s music, games, and concessions, and are all a part of the fun and the cover price is just $3 per person. Plus, we got NEW SKATES!

A huge thank you to the Girls Scouts Troop here in Burns for this wonderful donation of 21 new pairs of skates, 10 of those pairs are adjustable sizing. With lots of skates to borrow, we are still an ever growing organization and will take skate donations from: easy used skates, skate trainers and we even have a donation tab on our site.

Please follow us on our High Desert Park and Rec Facebook page or on our site Highdesertparkandrec.com for skate dates under our roller skating tab. This is a wonderful event for all ages and we hope to see you all there!
