Rocky Robert Tiller 1956 – 2024

Rocky passed away peacefully on Jan. 29, 2024, at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, with family members at his side.

He attended Hines Grade School, Burns High School and graduated in 1974. While going to school, he worked at Tiller’s Market.

Rocky left Tiller’s Market to work at Edward Hines Lumber Company, then went to Lakeview with his brother-in-law, Rick, to learn how to scale logs. After passing the log scale test, he went to work for Southern Oregon Log Scaling Bureau for thirty plus year, this job took him all over the State of Oregon. When he retired in 2021, he made his home in Gilchrist.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, boating, and spending time with his family. Rocky always had fun with whatever he did and whoever he was with.

Rocky is survived by his son, Mathew Tiller of La Grande; mother, Larraine Tiller of Hines; brother, Randy Tiller (Connie) of Hines; numerous nephews and nieces; great-aunt, Janice Case; uncle, Bud Smith of Burns; and cousin, Darrell Smith (Debbie).

Rocky was preceded in death by his father, Bob Tiller; sister, Karen Weir; brother-in-law, Rick Weir; grandparents, Bill and Hollis Tiller, Pat and Eunice Lambert; uncle, Homer Lambert; aunt, Gail Smith; cousin, Rickey Smith; and aunt, Joyce Cronin.

As Rocky requested, there will be no services. He will spend eternity at his favorite hunting grounds. Rocky is pictured with his last buck that was taken in 2018.

Rocky had many, many friends, he will be greatly missed. We will always remember his quotes, “Rock-N-Roll”, “Have A Hoot”, and “Hoo Rah”.
