Clyde Dennis Belcher 1946 – 2025

Clyde Dennis Belcher, 78, of Princeton, passed away on July 8, 2025.

Clyde was born on Dec. 31, 1946, in Coquille, Ore., to Bart and Mary (Weidner) Belcher. He was the sixth of seven children, and grew up alongside his siblings: Barbara Hannahs, Jack Belcher, Betty Miner, Linda Thompson, John Belcher, and Patty Oxford. Clyde attended school in Bandon, Ore., and graduated from high school in 1966.

In 1967, Clyde married the love of his life, Betty Louise. The following year, he joined the U.S. Army, where he served honorably as a wireman and lineman. His military service took him to Fort Page in South Korea, followed by assignments in California and Alabama. He was honorably discharged in March 1971.

Following his military service, Clyde resumed work at Rogge Lumber Company and welcomed his first son, David, in July 1971. His youngest son, Jason, was born in December 1973. Clyde later transferred to the lumber mill in Wallowa County, where he remained until his retirement. In 2010, Clyde and Betty relocated to Harney County, settling in Princeton.

Clyde was a proud patriarch, deeply devoted to his family. Known for his quick wit, his deep love of the outdoors, and his ever-growing woodpile, he found joy in simple pleasures. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, storytelling, and spending time with his grandchildren. His presence brought both strength and laughter to those around him.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Bart and Mary Belcher, and sisters Barbara Hannahs and Betty Miner.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Betty Louise Belcher of Princeton; his sons and their wives, David Belcher and Sarah Barnes-Belcher of Eugene, and Jason Belcher and Sarah Mayse-Belcher of Coquille; and seven grandchildren and their families: Kayla and Stijn Koenders of Breda, Netherlands; Britny and Michael Blankenship of Eugene; Eric and Jennessa Belcher, along with their children Keagan and Silas Belcher of San Antonio, Tex.; Kyle Belcher of Lebanon, Ore.; Brett Belcher of Coquille; Jacob and Macy (Neuschwander) Belcher of Coquille; and Jo Belcher of North Bend, Ore..

A service to honor and celebrate Clyde’s life will be held on Friday, July 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Crane Fellowship Church in Crane, Oregon.
