Gladys Ott, born May 10, 1927, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family’s love on March 21, 2026.

She was born to Thomas and Florence Payne in Abilene, Texas, and spent her childhood in New Mexico before settling in Oregon. She graduated from Lebanon High School. While living in Marcola, Ore., she met the love of her life, Perry Ott, at her father’s store. They were married by her father on Feb. 16, 1947, and shared 66 years together.

In 1972, she and Perry fulfilled their dream of owning a ranch, where Gladys lived until age 94. She was known for her strong work ethic and took great pride in her home and beautifully maintained yard, which she cared for well into her 90s.

Gladys worked for many years as a librarian at Crane Union High School and also filled in at the Crane Post Office.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Ott; and her son, Dale Ott. She is survived by her children, Dr. Gail Ott, Terry Ott, and Susan Schlager; 10 grandchildren: Dr. Shane Ott, Teresa Estes, Dr. Toby Joyce, Ryan Joyce, Kyle Joyce, Catilin Ott, Tyrel Ott, Jake Ott, Jason Ott, and Jennifer Bertrand; four step-grandchildren: Scott Schlager, Dr. Evan Schlager, Michael Schlager, and Hayley Schlager; 21 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Crane Fellowship Church on Saturday, May 9 at 1 p.m., in Crane, Ore.
