The offensive line lead the way for Burns’ win Friday, as the ground game rushed for 241 yards

Bouncing back from a loss against Weiser the week before, Burns came out firing on all cylinders and never looked back, trouncing the Sisters Outlaws at home on Friday, Sept. 4, 55-0.

The Hilanders amassed 275 yards of total offense, with 241 of those yards coming on the ground and five touchdowns.

Defensively, Burns held Sisters to -36 yards of total offense along with one interception.

Cannon Kemper scored the first three touchdowns of the game, punching in two of those on the ground from three- and-six yards out. His third was an interception returned 50-yards for another score. Amir Schouviller-Kness scored the Hilanders’ next touchdown, returning a punt for 39-yards to put the Hilanders up at the half over Sisters, 26-0.

Quarterback Dallen Johnson scored the first touchdown of the second half, scoring from one-yard out. Talmage Gahley scored the next touchdown as he scampered 51-yards to put the Hilanders up 41-0. Ryik Simpson put the nail in the coffin as he scored from 38- and-3 yards out for a final of 55-0.

Dallen Johnson finished the game 4 for 10 passing for 34 yards along with three carries for three yard and a touchdown.

Kemper led the team’s ground assault with 10 carries for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Gahley finished with three carries for 64 yards and a score, while Simpson carried the ball six times for 63 yards and two touchdowns.

On defense, Scott Graham, Tyson Breshears, and Ben Briels each finished the game with a quarterback sack. 

Head coach Matt Bruck said, “This was a great bound back game for us. Our boys took the loss from last week to heart and worked hard all week to fix the things that we felt like we needed to fix…and it showed.” He went on to say, “Our defense flew around the field making play after play, and our offense moved the ball and put points on the board. I’m very proud of our guys and we’re looking forward to playing Ontario next Friday.”

The Hilanders host their third game in as many weeks, when the Ontario Tigers comes to town on Friday, Sept. 11. The Tigers are currently 2-0 after having beat Mac-Hi and Payette, Idaho in the first two games of their season.
