Scotties take third place at Central Oregon District Tournament

The Hines Middle School (HMS) wrestling team performed well at the Central Oregon Middle School District Tournament held Feb. 23-24 in Redmond.

The Scotties had nine wrestlers place in the top six of their weight divisions, including three champions, and placed third as a team with 96 points.

Crook County Middle School won the team title with 185 points, followed by Sky View Middle School with 97 points. There were 16 teams that participated in the tournament.

First-place finishes for HMS went to Kempton Richardson (65 pounds), Oliver Barnes (84 pounds), and Wyatt Epling (136 pounds). Hunter Kemper (105 pounds) and Kevin Peasley (112 pounds) both placed second, Ryan Glascock (65 pounds) finished third, Ethan Peasley (77 pounds) came in fourth, Trey Cooley (190 pounds) was fifth, and Carter Lardy (84 pounds) sixth.

Match results for HMS are as follows:

65 lbs. — Richardson won by fall, 0:17; won by tech fall, 16-1; won by decision, 6-4.

65 lbs. — Glascock lost by fall, 3:40; received a bye; won by decision, 14-10; won by decision, 13-8.

77 lbs. — E. Peasley won by fall, 0:44; lost by decision, 14-9; won by fall, 0:47; won by fall, 0:09; won by decision, 10-5; lost by fall, 3:48.

84 lbs. — Hazen Johnson received a bye; lost by fall, 0:57; received a bye; won by fall, 2:58; won by fall, 1:24; lost by fall, 0:49.

84 lbs. — Barnes received a bye; won by fall, 0:50; won by fall, 1:26; won by fall, 2:00; won by fall, 2:52; won by decision, 8-7.

84 lbs. — Lardy received a bye; won by fall, 1:15; won by decision, 6-2; lost by tech fall, 15-0; won by fall, 0:32; won by fall, 3:14; lost by fall, 4:26; lost by major decision, 8-0.

91 lbs. — Jaden Davis lost by fall, 2:38; lost by tech fall, 15-0.

98 lbs. — Corbett Graham received a bye; won by fall, 3:21; lost by tech fall, 15-0; won by fall, 2:44; won by fall, 1:03; won by fall, 1:26; lost by decision, 6-2.

105 lbs. — Kemper won by fall, 0:14; received a bye; won by fall, 1:29; won by major decision, 9-1; lost by decision, 7-2.

112 lbs. — Dayton Baron received a bye; won by fall, 0:55; lost by fall, 1:18; won by fall, 1:48; won by fall, 1:13; won by fall, 0:47; lost by fall, 1:08.

112 lbs. — K. Peasley received a bye; won by fall, 0:58; won in sudden victory, 9-7; won by fall, 1:21; won by fall, 0:53; lost by major decision, 11-3.

136 lbs. — Epling won by tech fall, 17-2; won by fall, 0:20; won by tech fall, 17-2; won by fall, 3:22; won by fall, 2:10.

190 lbs. — Cooley lost by fall, 4:20; won by fall, 3:29; lost by fall, 0:31; won by fall, 0:51.
