Burns picks up three EOL wins on the road

The Hilander volleyball team finished off their Eastern Oregon League schedule with three victories to place second in the league with an 8-2 record.

On Friday, Oct. 18, the Hilanders defeated Irrigon in four sets, 22-25, 25-14, 25-19, 25-21.

The Hilanders then had a doubleheader on Saturday, Oct. 19, defeating both Riverside and Umatilla.

Burns knocked off Riverside 25-16, 25-17, 25-8, and downed Umatilla 25-9, 25-9, 25-9.

Burns upped their overall record to 21-6 with the trio of victories, and are ranked ninth in the OSAA 3A rankings.

The Hilanders now ready for the district playoffs that begin Oct. 26.

The Burns volleyball team swept Culver in three sets on Tuesday, Oct. 15, to improve to 18-6 on the season.

The Hilanders won the match, 25-10, 25-10, 25-13.

The Hilanders recorded 20 kills in the match, led by Allie Hueckman with six, Kaitlyn Wright with five, and Mariah Atencio with four.

Kaiden Raif had a good night at the serving line, finishing with 11 aces, and also had three blocks and 18 assists.

Burns had 39 digs, led by Kirsten Swann with 10, and Raif and Hueckman with eight each.
