Harney County Library reopened June 17

Beginning Wednesday, June 17, Harney County Library reopened with new procedures in place. To minimize infection risk and keep staff from being overwhelmed, the library is reopening in phases.

During this first phase, the library will be open Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The number of people in the building at one time shall be no more than 10. Library staff ask that you limit your visit to 15 minutes.

Everyone will be required to either sanitize their hands or wear gloves. You are also encouraged to wear a mask, which will be provided if needed. In addition to protecting library staff health, wearing a mask protects library service. If one staff member tests positive for COVID-19, the library will be closed for two weeks for recovery and quarantine.

The library will continue to quarantine returned items for three days, so you may notice titles still on your account that you already returned. Any accrued fines during quarantine will be removed from your account.

Computer use will be by appointment: 45 minutes per session with time to sanitize machines between users. Wi-Fi is still available outside the building. You are encouraged to use this, as the number of people who can be in the library will be limited.

Please ask for staff assistance with the copy machine so that sanitizing protocols can be followed.

The Western History Room will be open by appointment only. Please call 541-573-6670 to set up a time to meet with Karen.

Curbside delivery will continue. Please call ahead so staff can have your items ready when you arrive.

Library staff look forward to seeing you all again!
