Burns’ beloved Hilander Restaurant is closing on June 19.

A staple of downtown Burns, the Hilander has been serving delicious Chinese-American cuisine for the past 26 years.

Owners Ping and John Lei purchased the restaurant from Tina and Mike Yee on Jan. 1, 1996.

The Leis recently sold the Hilander to Symmetry Care Inc., a behavioral health clinic located in Burns.

Symmetry Care plans to use the restaurant space to build a client-based business that will teach life skills and provide work experience.

After closing the restaurant, the Leis will retire and stay in Harney County.
