Wrestlers preparing for the 2023 Jay Winn Memorial Buckle Classic wrestling tournament, which was held on Saturday, Jan. 21.

The Jay Winn Memorial Buckle Classic wrestling tournament was hosted by the Hi-Desert Mat Club on Saturday, Jan. 21, at Burns High School. The tournament featured more than 300 young wrestlers vying for the first-place belt buckles.

On Saturday-Sunday, Jan. 28-29, members of the Hi-Desert Mat Club participated in the OWA Kids Folkstyle State Championships at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo in Redmond. More than 1,300 wrestlers competed in the contest. Eleven of the 15 participating Hi-Desert Mat Club wrestlers placed.
