The Burns lacrosse team traveled to Redmond on Saturday, March 18, to play Ridgeview High School and defeated the Ravens 5-4.

The Burns offense was led by Ely Kennedy with a Hat Trick and Del Snapp with two goals. Solomon Kennedy was outstanding in goal, stopping 23 of 27 shots on goal by Ridgeview.

The defense was very effective at keeping the Ravens from getting quality shots on goal. Leon Dave and Lucian Miller were very effective at face-offs, which helped Burns control the ball and the tempo of the game.

Burns was also efficient at getting the ball out of its defensive end and getting it to the attack. Unfortunately, Burns struggled at maintaining quality possessions. At the time, the team was sloppy and had too many unforced errors, which kept the game close and allowed Ridgeview to hang around.

Head coach Rick Roy said, “It is always a good feeling when our team goes on the road and plays against much larger schools and comes away with a win. Our kids played hard.”

After being out of the Oregon High School Lacrosse Association (OHSLA) for the last several years, Burns Lacrosse rejoined the league in 2023 as a Junior Varsity program. Prior to rejoining the league, the local lacrosse program concentrated on playing in various tournaments, scrimmages, and jamborees or having its athletes compete with other club teams at tournaments.

You can catch the next contest for Burns Lacrosse on Saturday, April 8, when they host Mountain View High School.
