Harney County School District No. 3 selects superintendent

After a nationwide search, an intensive screening process involving community and staff members, two rounds of interviews, and community and staff forums, the Harney County School District No. 3 Board is pleased to announce that Robert Medley will be the next superintendent of the school district, effective July 1, 2023.

According to board chair Rob Frank, “Mr. Medley shares the board’s vision on continually improving the way our district meets the needs of our students and our community. He’s done a great job this year as interim, building relationships inside and out of our buildings, and we’re excited to begin a new era for the district with Mr. Medley at the helm.”

Medley is currently the interim superintendent of Harney County School District No. 3. He has been the principal at Burns High School since 2018 and previously served as an assistant principal and athletic director in the Scappoose school district. He received his bachelor’s degree in community health from Portland State University and his master’s degree in administration from Concordia University.

“I am very grateful to the board of education for this opportunity to serve as the Harney County School District No. 3 superintendent,” Medley said. “It’s exciting to see the positive direction our district is headed, and I am excited to be a part of an incredible group of staff and students.”

The Harney County School District No. 3 Board is pleased to welcome Medley as the new superintendent and looks forward to many successful years working together.
