Patricia Ann Love 1945 – 2023

Patricia Ann Love, of Hines, passed away peacefully in her home on June 27, 2023. Patti was born on Jan. 25, 1945, to Henry and Alberta Mathew in Coos Bay, Ore.

Patti graduated high school from Marshfield H.S. in 1963. Through the years she worked at a variety of jobs… hospital candy striper, Dairy Queen, US Bank, she was a Realtor, Summer Lake Inn Cook, and a Traffic Safety Flagger for Lake County. Her hobbies were quilting, sewing which she gifted to family and friends, gardening and working out in her yard (which always looked beautiful) Her favorite flowers were her daffodils. 

With Patti’s love for quilting, in 1992 Patti and Mel decided to create an award at the Lake County Fair to attract more participation for handmade quilts to be entered and shown. This was the creation of the Love Quilt Award that is still awarded today.

She is survived by her daughter, Kristi Elder, and husband, Rob Elder  (Riverside, Ore.); sisters, Joan Lundgren (Springfield, Ore.) and Elizabeth Morrow (Ariz.); step-daughters, Lori Love (Eugene, Ore.), Paula Love (Vernonia, Ore.), and Nanci Love (Springfield, Ore.); grandchildren: Amy Elder (Springfield, Ore.), Randi Hennek (Twin Falls, Idaho), Lacey Elder (Riverside, Ore.); and Jack Elder (Caldwell, Idaho) and three great-grandchildren.  

Patti was preceded in death by her husband, Mel Love; mother, Alberta; father, Henry;  her two brothers, James Mathew and Robert Mathew; and step-daughter, Linda Love.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the Summer Lake Cemetery in Summer Lake, Ore. 

A meal and time for remembrance will be held at the family ranch following the service.
