Harney County CattleWomen award scholarships to four local students

A beloved staple of the Harney County Fair, the Harney County CattleWomen’s 69th annual Chuckwagon Breakfast was held Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Harney County Community Center in downtown Burns.

The Harney County CattleWomen (HCCW) awarded scholarships to four local students during the 69th annual Chuckwagon Breakfast on Sept. 9.

These scholarships were funded using proceeds from HCCW’s 2022 silent auction as well as generous donations from community members, Malheur Machinery, and NewSun Energy.

All of the 2023 scholarship winners have accomplished numerous scholastic and extracurricular achievements. HCCW are honored to introduce this year’s winners.

Tayleur Baker is a 2023 graduate of Crane Union High School. Her parents are Joe and Heather Baker. Tayleur will be a freshman at Oregon State University-Cascades where she plans to study agricultural communications.

Emery Hammond is a 2023 graduate of Crane Union High School. His parents are Steve and Earlyna Hammond. Emery will be a freshman at University of Idaho where he plans to study animal science and production management.

Kaitlyn Wright is a 2022 graduate of Burns High School. Her parents are Bryan and Cori Wright. Kaitlyn is a sophomore at Oregon Institute of Technology where she is studying ultrasounds.

Ana Idoeta is a 2021 Crane Union High School graduate. Her parents are Castor and Lisa Idoeta. Ana is a junior at George Fox University where she is studying psychology.

The HCCW Scholarship Committee was impressed with the quality of the applications this year. The CattleWomen would like to extend their best wishes to all of the applicants.

HCCW support many activities in the community that promote and educate about beef and the ranching way of life.

HCCW would like to thank the community for supporting their fundraising events and for joining them at the Chuckwagon Breakfast.
