Amy Lynn Scheen 1978 – 2024

Amy Lynn Scheen was born in Burns, to Laverne (Vern) and Marilynn Scheen on April 5, 1978. She joined her father; her grandfather, Nolan Anderson; and her grandmother, June Anderson, on Jan. 14, 2024.

Amy is survived by her mother, Marilynn Scheen; brother, Aaron Scheen; sister-in-law, Paula Scheen; nephew, Nolan Scheen; aunt, Nola Cedergreen; and many other relatives and friends.

Amy was born an adventurous and determined child. As a young girl she loved going fishing, picnicking, mushroom hunting, arrowhead hunting and exploring “the woods” with her family. She had a special bond with her grandfather and was a good sidekick working alongside him to “get wood”. She also loved to cook and spent many hours helping her grandmother perfect cookie recipes and stir homemade caramels.

Amy loved helping homeless and crippled animals. When she was young, a Canadian Honker ended up in her family’s back yard.  Amy fixed a spot for that goose to swim in a small pond and provided food and other care.  For many years, every year, the goose and her mate returned to the same small pond Amy had fixed for her.

Amy worked at the local nursing home while she was in high school, and later, at Louisiana Pacific where she loved driving heavy equipment. Her true calling was working in the lab at Harney District Hospital. Numerous patients took care to call ahead and schedule their blood work for the time Amy was on duty as she had a gift for making the process comfortable.

After the loss of her father in 2019, Amy missed his companionship dearly. She tried a variety of trades but found nothing a true passion. Her life’s path in recent years was not a healthy choice and the entire family missed the Amy we had once known. We are thankful that she has been reunited with those she loved so much. If you have a friend or family member who is struggling please encourage them to seek professional help.

No services are planned. If you knew the Amy that was full of life, laughter, spunk, and silliness please remember her that way.
