It is with great sadness that we announce the passing James Eugene “Jim” Cook on Oct. 6, 2023, at the age of 66, near Burns. 

He was born July 31, 1957 in Salem, the third child of Lyle and Ruby Cook, spending his younger years in Keizer.

Jim loved to fish and hunt with family and friends. He was a kind and caring father and grandfather with a big heart and enjoyed making his loved ones laugh. His legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren who have so many fond memories with him. 

He worked for Kilroy’s Manufactured Homes in Salem for several years. After moving to Central Oregon, he started his business J.E. Cook Enterprises – setting up manufactured homes. He operated his business for many successful years until he retired. His last years were spent in Burns where he loved to be and travel to the many nearby places to fish and hunt. 

He is survived by four children, James Cook (Tina), Alicia Cook, Justin Cook and Gage Cook; his sister, Connie Dooley; two grandchildren, Kaylee and Kyle; and three step-grandchildren, Aislyn, Cannon and Harlon. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Lyle Cook; and his brother, Larry.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Jim in late spring or early summer for the immediate family and dear friends who will be notified when a date has been determined.
